RABBI THERMAL RESORT
Rabbi Thermal Resort is immersed in the lush green spruce and larch forests. It combines the natural properties of its mineral water with the fascinating beauty of one of the most uncontaminated mountain landscapes in the alpine region, i.e. the Stelvio National Park.
The high concentration of natural carbon dioxide helps to maintain numerous mineral elements in solution; each one of these elements has its own therapeutic properties. In therapy of mineral water used for drink, the gaseous component in the water favours digestion and likewise in balneotherapy it is effective in the treatment of rheumatic and circulatory diseases. Experimental studies have shown considerable benefits in treating varicosis of the lower limbs and diseases referable to microcirculatory dysfunctions.
Moreover, the therapies for preventing and treating cellulite, which are included in the programmes offered by Rabbi Thermal Resort are more than worthy of mention. The ferruginous component present in the form of ferrous ions, makes his water ideal for the treatment of anaemia and lymphatisms. Furthermore, the presence of bicarbonates makes the water suitable for applications in diseases of the upper air passages, such as chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis. The Spa also offers a new regenerating bath and a section dedicated to Kneipp-therapy and peat packs.
THE MINERAL WATER
The mineral water thanks to the numerous components present in the solution it is classified as: bicarbonate-alkaline-ferruginous and highly carbonic. The bicarbonate anion (HCO₃₋) in the mineral water has a buffer capacity, when treating gastritis. Small doses rich with CO₂, taken slowly, stimulate the production of HCL.
By drinking large quantities in short periods, a buffering action takes place with benefits for the chronic gastritis sufferer (anti-inflammatory action on the gastric mucosa by the calcium bicarbonate). In the form of a beverage : the iron is easily assimilated and becomes a therapeutic indication for anaemia in the child and the adult and in particular conditionssuch as pregnancy. The mineral water from the Ancient Rabbi Spring, with its concentration of approximately 1500 cc/l of CO₂ is considered one of the mineral waters with the highest CO₂ content out of those known in Europe and this explains why it is particularly used in balneotherapy.
An intense action takes place in the peripheral circle that leads to vasodilationand hyperthermia with a clear reduction in blood pressure. When bathing , many gas bubbles adhere to and detach from the parts of the body that are immersed in the water thereby provoking a “micromassaging” action.
There is a sense of warmth. Under these conditions the reflex mechanisms against heat dispersion do not come in action and capillary dilation persists.
The network structure of the small subcutaneous vessels is substantially rearranged due to the reduction of the parietal resistance, the sectors that were not previously functioning are opened and new blood capillaries are produced.
With suitable thermal techniques and adequate periods of treatment capillarisation is rebalanced such as to compensate for trophic diseases connected with alterations in the venous and capillary circle. The treatments are shown in the various degrees of chronic venous insufficiency including varicose veins, post-phlebitic syndromes, preparation for saphenectomy or sclerotherapy surgery, cellulite and, in general, in affections concerning microcirculation diseases.
