Sanatorium ,,Tulpės"

The sanatorium “Tulpės” was the first sanatorium to start its activities in Birštonas. It has long-standing traditions of healing with the use of mineral water and mud. The mineral waters of Birštonas are used both for drinking and for healing baths. The sanatorium “Tulpės” is the only one in Birštonas which uses the water “Vaidilutė”, having high mineralization. The water is distinguished by high content of bromine. Resort towns, having mineral waters with high content of bromine, are well respected around the world. Baths of the mineral water “Vaidilutė” stimulate physiological mechanisms of healing. They are especially effective in the healing of certain diseases of blood circulation, respiration, digestion, nerves and joints.

The new healing sites are built near the old Birštonas healing sites, on a shore of Nemunas – they form a unified healing complex. The overall area of the new healing sites is 2750 square metres. For the convenience of the visitors, they are divided into separate zones: Baths, Pools and Saunas. Also, there is a separate zone of beauty and doctor’s consultations.

In the large pool of mineral water, having an area of 130 square metres, the guests of the resort town and patients of the “Tulpės” sanatorium can enjoy streams of underwater massage, underwater watercourse, a sliding mount and a superb view of the Nemunas. A small pool for children under 10 is located nearby. Also, there is a vertical bath with spine-stretching equipment and massage zones. In the area of saunas, there are saunas of Finnish type (“Springtime Sounds”), Russian and steam type (“Comets’ Tempest”), contrast showers (“Tropical Rain”). On the ground floor, there is the zone of baths. It has five specialised baths of hydro-therapy, underwater massage and galvanisation. Also, a unique system of massage bath awaits the visitors – the bath “Nuvola”. It is designed to help recovery of people with spine diseases. 40 minutes of rest in this bath are equivalent to 6 hours of sound sleep.

On the second floor, there is the relaxation zone, containing a nirvana (relaxation) room, a sauna of infrared rays, a room of aroma-therapy and musical therapy. There also a mobile hall of kinesitherapy of 300 square metres, which can be transformed into a conference room. The building has a café, a child-care room. Up to 100 people can enjoy various procedures simultaneously.
